The role of the Ecological Restoration Working Group (ERWG) is to support of the thematic work of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) and the UN Decade on Ecological Restoration.
This NCUK Working Group will focus on new initiatives and innovative approaches for ecological restoration using both the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) and the United Nations Decade for Ecological Restoration as its overarching guiding international frameworks. It will complement the work of the NCUK Working Group on Protected Areas, and the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas membership and locus.
The ERWG will connect research and practice in some of the CEM’s thematic work areas in a UK context, including Nature-based Solutions, Rewilding, Connectivity Conservation, Nature Networks, the Red List of Ecosystems and Ecosystem Resilience, and build relationships between the networks of practitioners delivering in these areas.
Here you can also find the latest information from the IUCN UK Peatland Programme and the Saltmarsh Carbon Code project
This working group will also cover the activities of the IUCN NCUK River Restoration and Biodiversity Programme.
