International Interests

NCUK abroad

The reach of the the IUCN NCUK goes beyond the boundaries of the British Isles.

Helping IUCN members work better together

UK Overseas Territories

The IUCN NCUK works closely with the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum (UKOTCF) and others with regard to these important areas for biodiversity. UKOTCF is represented as an advisor to the NCUK Executive Committee. There are 14 Overseas Territories covering over 18,000 square km, plus the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. It is understood that 94% of the biodiversity that the UK is responsibility for occurs in these areas.

The Commonwealth

The IUCN NCUK is currently facilitating conversations with IUCN National Committees in Commonwealth countries with a view to establishing opportunities for collaboration to add value and synergy to nature conservation work across the world. There are 54 countries in the Commonwealth, in Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific and about a quarter of these have IUCN National Committees.

Other International Collaborations

The IUCN NCUK, through its Chief Executive, facilitates leadership in several IUCN entities including: chairing the IUCN Global Group for National and Regional Committee Development; co-chairing the IUCN Interregional Committee for Europe, North and Central Asia (ICENCA); chairing the Working Group for National Committee Development in Europe, North and Central Asia (WGNCD). It also participates in the European Policy Advisory Group (EUPAG) managed by the Regional Office for Europe.
