IUCN ‘Informal’ Regional Members meeting in Prague announced

prague-548682_640

An IUCN ‘Informal’ Regional Members Meeting will take place in Prague on the 24th and 25th September 2018, hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. There are a limited number of places remaining for this meeting but IUCN Members and their National Committees from the West Europe, East Europe, North and Central Asia regions are welcome to attend.

This meeting comes at an important time for this area of IUCN’s global reach, as we will be discussing the results of the Members poll for approval to form an Interregional Committee covering the two statutory regions. This poll will be open for input next week, following a recent period of opportunity for online debate. An invitation to participate will be sent to all IUCN Members in West Europe, East Europe, North and Central Asia and all are encouraged to take part in the Yes/No survey. At least 50% response either way is required to legitimise a way forward on this issue so every opinion counts!

Also on the agenda will be early preparation for the next Regional Conservation Forum in 2019 in advance of the quadrennial IUCN World Conservation Congress in 2020, hosted this time by France, in Marseille.

The latest draft agenda is now available here:  Informal_Members_Meeting_24-25_September_Prague_DRAFT_AGENDA_19-06-2018
